DESCRIPTION OF ROLES

Executive Branch

The executive branch ensures that the organization’s mission is effectively communicated to the general public. All executive members must meet regularly with co-founders to provide updates on plans and progress.

MAGAZINE DIRECTOR

  • Oversees all magazine operations.

  • Responsible for approving the final version of the magazine.

  • Manages all the committees related to magazine creation.

  • Make sure all delegated tasks run smoothly and timely. 

  • Sets a clear direction for the magazine to follow.

MARKETING DIRECTOR

  • Manages marketing committee. 

  • Spearheads large-scale marketing campaigns.

  • Makes sure that marketing is effective and reaches the intended goals and audience.

  • Researches and proposes marketing strategies.

DIGITAL MAGAZINE

The magazine branch is responsible for creating bi-weekly content for the organization’s digital magazine. All magazine directors must brief co-founders on plans and progress. Additionally, magazine directors must ensure that committee members are able to complete delegated tasks and meet deadlines.

WRITING, EDITORIAL, TRANSLATION COMMITTEES

The writing and editorial committees are responsible for creating and editing the literary content for the digital magazine. The translation committee is responsible for translating this content into different languages.

Chief Editing Director

  • Primarily manages the writing/editorial committees. 

  • Communicates with writers and editors regularly.

  • Writes articles as well, but mostly in charge of editing (e.g. fact-checks, reviewing articles, etc.)

Editors​

​Literary Editorial Team

  • Scrutinizes articles for grammatical/spelling errors.

  • Edits articles for flow and clarity. 

  • Editing is done in all languages.

Fact-checking Team​

  • Checks that all information presented in the articles is accurate.

  • Checks that all information comes from trustworthy sources. 

  • Ensures that articles are unbiased.

Writers​/Contributors​

  • Creates literary content for magazine.

  • Finds ideas for stories and articles.

  • Conducts research on topics to find relevant information.  

  • Writes articles that are clear, concise, and easy for the average reader to digest.

  • Writers write a 500-600 word article bi-weekly. 

  • Co-contributors write a 500-600 word article every four weeks.

Director of Translation​

  • Primarily manages the translation committee.  

  • Communicates with translators of all languages to make sure that everything goes smoothly. 

  • Can do some translating as well.

Translators​

  • Translates articles into their respective languages. 

  • Is fluent in their respective languages and communicates with respective audiences.

INFOGRAPHICS COMMITTEE

The infographics committee is responsible for creating visual content for the digital magazine.

Creative Director

  • Primarily manages the infographics committee. 

  • Can create additional visual content.

Contributors​/Part-Time Contributors

  • Creates visual content for the magazine.

  • Contributors create bi-weekly content.

  • Part time contributors create content every four weeks. ​

VIDEO PRODUCTION COMMITTEE

The video production committee is responsible for the creation of video content for our digital magazine.

Video Production Director

  • Primarily manages the video production committee as well as the editors and animators.

  • Able to assist with video production and direction.

  • Checks that video content does not have improperly used copyright material.

Committee Member​

  • Films videos for Youtube channel on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Part-time contributors create content on a monthly basis.

Video Editor​

  • Edits videos filmed by the video production committee.

Video Animator​

  • ​Periodically creates animated videos for the magazine.

EXTERNAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

The external affairs committee is responsible for the organization of events and communication with external organizations, ambassadors, and sponsors.

Director of External Affairs

  • Manages external affairs committee.

  • Communicates with outside organizations and ambassadors.

  • Reaches out to potential sponsors.​​

Committee Members​

  • Organizes details for events (eg. venue, time, etc.)

  • Reaches out to potential speakers to give presentations at schools and other public spaces.

  • Communicate with ambassadors to delegate tasks.

Recruitment Officers

  • Reads over applications and short-list applicants.

  • Send short-listed applicants to the executive board for screening.

  • Coordinates interview times.

  • Hires people for various roles.

SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM

The social media team is responsible for managing the organization’s social media accounts. It ensures that the organization continues to reach out to its intended audience.

  • Manages social media accounts.

  • Handles and reports business inquiries to the outreach and financial teams.

  • Responds to comments, messages, and any questions on social media accounts.

  • Promotes the organization and communicates with audiences.

  • Creates marketing content and advertisements.

  • Ensures that the organization’s mission is reflected in marketing content.

  • Helps analyze the effect and reach of marketing every year.

  • Embodies the spirit of our nonprofit organization.

  • Represents the organization at local schools, communities and other public spaces.

  • Provides valuable information and insight into their field of expertise.
